Nearly half a million dollars worth of cocaine was seized from a car that also contained two kids, aged 2 and 11.

A 25-year-old woman driving a “vehicle that looked suspicious” was pulled over by a K9 handler near San Clemente Monday morning, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Jose Hernandez said in an interview with KCBS.

In the 2001 Honda Accord was her 2-year-old daughter in the back seat, and an 11-year-old boy in the front passenger seat.

When a K9 officer named Sergeant did a sweep of the car, cops said they discovered 14 bricks of cocaine.

Three bricks were hidden in the passenger seat on which the boy was sitting and eight bricks were underneath the toddler’s seat, according to a California Border Patrol press statement.

The unidentified young mother was sitting on three bricks of cocaine hidden inside the driver’s seat, cops said.

According to officials, there was a total of 38.25 pounds of cocaine in the car, with an estimated street value of $459,000.

“This is a troubling method,” Ralph DeSio from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection told InsideEdition.com. “Children may be exposed to these dangerous smuggling organizations, drug packages, [and] the trauma associated with their mother or father being arrested.”

The woman was arrested and turned over to a DEA task force, and the children were taken into the care of San Diego County Child Services.
